As I headed to Edinburgh on the train to my now second home, Blackwells Bookstore, for the launch party of Billionaires’ Banquet, I pondered what lay ahead. Each launch I attend is unique. Tonight event did not disappoint if anything Ron Butlins reading and discussion, raised the bar high.
Ron Butlin is so engaging with his public speaking. His enthusiasm and humour for his new book oozing out into the audience, enticing us all into his 1985 world. Almost like a death eater in Harry Potter, we were all magically stunned, but in a good non-death way.
I have never laughed out loud at a book launch before, but I did tonight on many occasions. Although, as Ron said the book does cover some not so humorous topics too. As the event drew to a close I immediately wanted to take up camp with the book and read it.
I was excited to hear that Ron is working on a follow-up to his soon to be released children’s book ~ Steve & Frandan Take on the World.

Thank you to @RonButlinMakar ~ Anne @BlackwellEdin @saltpublishing for a wonderful fun and winning evening. I look forward to reviewing the book soon.
1985, Edinburgh. Thatcher’s policies are biting deep – fat cats and street-kids, lovers, losers and the rest struggle to survive. Hume sets up a business catering for the rich and their ever-growing appetites. But by the new millennium, these appetites have become too demanding . . .
Powerful, challenging and very funny, Billionaires’ Banquet is an immorality tale for the 21st century.

I must admit to being a teeny bit jealous that you are able to go to so many of the local book launches. My family would not be happy if I left them to fend for themselves though so can only do some! Sounds like you had a fab time.

Don’t be 1% jealous, I have been in hiding looking after mum for three years. Now I feel I have my wings again and just think of all the money your saving and you get my reviews to read so you can be part of it too. Hugs xx
