Only You is the kind of story that makes us common-folk ladies daydream that anything can happen. Like a gorgeous leading man falling for moi? In real life? Most definitely not likely. But with this story, I’m besotted. And I believe that Robert Armstrong, aka latest hot actor to take London by storm, would fall for the down-to-earth adorable Jane Hollinger. Why? Well…actors are only human. And Jane is low-drama. She’s smart, reasonable, and beautiful in a subtle way. And Robert loves to act. He didn’t enter show business for the celebrity aspects of being seen on screen. In fact, he’s quite averse to celebrity-hungry women. Which is why he’s single.
Onto the plot. Robert attends Jane’s genealogy class and has an instant connection with Jane. Honest, I think her being “normal,” sweet, and beautiful created a woman Robert could easily fall for. Especially after his paparazzi-loving ex-girlfriend.
And Robert is a bit incognito when he joins the class, coming from set where he’s still in makeup. Which, I might add, makes it so he can slip under the radar without too much unwanted attention.
And so this age-old story goes, successful and handsome Robert falls for Jane. Jane’s fear of losing her privacy and identity prevents these two from instant Happily Ever After (HEA). And of course, we wouldn’t have a story if there was an instant HEA.
“Robert. Robert Armstrong.”
She stared at his outstretched hand. No, it couldn’t be. He, or rather the character he played in her favourite TV series, had been the first man to make her blush since Tom had left. Both Mags and Carol teased her unmercifully over it.
She continued gawping at his hand.
Add in some interesting genealogy tidbits for Robert, sibling drama, and a hero who stops at nothing to win Jane’s love, Only You equals a quick fun chick-lit read that leaves the reader happily satisfied.
