One thing I have particularly loved about starting my blog almost three years ago now. Is the beautiful meaningful friendships I have made along the way. One such friend is author Wendy Jones. Ms Jones has a plethora of genre hats and her drive, passion and enthusiasm is very infectious.
Wendy stopped by to have a natter and answer some questions.

Wendy H Jones is the Amazon Number 1 best-selling author of the award winning DI Shona McKenzie Mysteries. Her Young Adult Mystery, The Dagger’s Curse was a finalist in the Woman Alive Readers’ Choice Award. She is also The President of the Scottish Association of Writers, an international public speaker, and runs conferences and workshops on writing, motivation and marketing. Wendy is the founder of Crime at the Castle, Scotland’s newest Crime Festival. She is the editor of a Lent Book, published by the Association of Christian Writers and also the editor of the forthcoming Christmas Anthology from the same publisher. Her first children’s book, Bertie the Buffalo, was released in December 2018.

Firstly, thank you for inviting me on to your blog. I am both delighted and honoured to be here. Thank you also, for asking such great questions.
Can you tell us a little bit about your book?
Antiques and Alibis is the first book in a new humorous crime series which, funnily enough, is set in Scotland. Cass is a redheaded, motorbike riding, ex-ballerina who inherits a private detective agency and accidently hires an ex-con dwarf and an octogenarian. A laugh out loud tale that is riddled with missing antique teddies, hapless crooks, dead bodies and an AWOL Lord of the Realm. Will Cass, and Scotland, ever recover.
Who would your book be perfect for?
Anyone who likes light-hearted crime stories. Cass was described by one reviewer as a Scottish Stephanie Plum, so anyone who likes Janet Evanovich books.
Did you have a favourite character to write?
Can I be greedy here and answer two? Firstly, Cass was great, as she’s hopeless and has no clue what she is doing. She gets all her detecting advice form penny dreadful crime books, which will give you a flavour of how well that goes.
Her sidekick, Quill, was also brilliant to write. He wasn’t meant to be in the book but strolled in bold as brass and announced he was my new character. Despite my protestations, he refused to leave. He is a ladies’ man and all the women in the book, fall in love to him. Much to my surprise, so do my female readers.
What inspired you to the write the book?
I usually write gritty crime with a hint of humour, so this was a new departure for me. Readers said they enjoyed the humorous bits of my original series, so I decided to see if I could write a whole book like that.
What has been your proudest bookish moment?
Three immediately spring to mind. The first was when I launched my first book, Killer’s Countdown, in Waterstones. The place was packed with such a great atmosphere. The second was when Killer’s Crew won Books Go Social Book of the Year. The third was when The Dagger’s Curse was a finalist in the Woman Alive Magazine Book of the Year.

What would you like to see in a humorous crime book? What makes you laugh and why?
What is your favourite read of your whole life and why?
That is a tough one as I’ve literally read thousands of books. My favourite at the moment is ‘The Book of Book Lists’. This is an absolutely fascinating insight into the libraries and reading choices of famous people and in unusual places. Who would have known that David Bowie read so much and so widely? Also, that trunks full of books were used as mobile libraries for lighthouse keepers and their families. As I say, fascinating.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a lot right now, several books in fact. The pertinent one here is “Blood and Bones’ the second Cass Claymore Investigates book.
