I have never read a book about pirates and smugglers before and it was a real delight. With the book blog, I try to say yes to all genres and jump in and see where it takes me. Jiddy Vardy really impressed me the writing is superb. I looked forward to spending time with the book and thought about Jiddy and her journey when I was going through my day.
Jiddy is a loveable character who is a fabulous inspiration to everyone. The life lessons are varied and not just young adults. I really enjoyed the plot and the variation of characters. Ms Estevez has a knack for setting the scene and developing a dip of warmth between the characters.
As much as I loved the book my only niggle was I am not keen on the title. It doesn’t give anything away or let you really know what it is about. I feel the book is amazing and deserves a wider appeal and a different title in my humble opinion would do that.
Jiddy Vardy took me on a journey of delights. Ruth Estevez is one to watch.
My rating for the book would be four stars.

I haven’t read a pirate focused book in a long time at least. This sounds like a good book to get back into it again!
