COMING SOON: Living at the Edge of the World – Summer by S. J. Barratt
A remote Shetland island. A mysterious selkie skin. And a home worth fighting for.
We have a wonderful middle-grade adventure coming to Love Books Tours this September.
From 1st–7th September, our #LBTCrew will be reading and reviewing Living at the Edge of the World – Summer by S. J. Barratt.
At 125 pages and written for readers aged 9–12, this eco-fiction adventure combines island life, Scottish folklore, friendship and environmental themes in a story about finding the confidence to speak up for what matters.
About Living at the Edge of the World – Summer
When twelve-year-old Tabitha returns to the remote Shetland island of Papala, she’s expecting adventure with her twin brother and friends — not trouble.
As their ferry approaches the island, Tabitha discovers what appears to be a selkie skin drifting in the harbour.
Local legend says the skin belongs to a mythical creature, half human and half seal. If it isn’t returned before midnight, the island will be cursed with generations of bad luck.
But Papala is already facing some very real threats.
Pollution is creeping along its coastline.
The bird sanctuary is at risk.
And the island’s owner is planning to sell.
With time running out, Tabitha and her brother must uncover the truth and convince the islanders to protect their home.
