Bookstagram Tour Spotlight: The Galway Girl by Steve McCarthy
We’re thrilled to be partnering with Steve McCarthy for the upcoming Bookstagram Tour for The Galway Girl.
Set against the wide skies and restless Atlantic of the west of Ireland, this warm contemporary romance is a story of summer, self-discovery, connection, and the people who unexpectedly change how we see the world.

Tom Carter is fifteen, Edgware-born, and firmly convinced that three weeks in Galway will be the dullest of his life. He’s brought his notebook, his Walkman, and his late grandfather’s camera, mostly for something to do with his hands. He has not brought an open mind. He doesn’t see the point.
Then he spills chips on a girl outside a chip shop, and everything gets considerably more complicated.
Niamh Flynn knows every hidden beach, every cobbled back street, every secret worth knowing about the place Tom has already decided to ignore. She walks fast, talks straight, and keeps a biscuit tin full of small things that matter. She is not interested in being anyone’s holiday romance. Tom is not interested in admitting that’s exactly what he’s hoping for.
Set against the wide skies and restless Atlantic of the west of Ireland, The Galway Girl is a story about a camera, a notebook, a blue bracelet, and what it costs to let someone see you properly, maybe for the first time.
Some summers end. Some don’t.
About the Author
Steve McCarthy is a writer and photographer based in the UK. He writes warm, feel-good contemporary romance with heart, hope, and a soft spot for second chances, stories rooted in everyday moments that quietly change everything.
His novels include The Light Between Us, Tracks in Time, The Man Who Saved Christmas, and A Christmas List of Second Chances.
When he’s not writing, Steve is usually behind a camera, chasing light, coastlines, and matchday memories. As a landscape and sports photographer, he’s drawn to honest, unposed detail: the pause before a storm, the glow at golden hour, the look on a player’s face after the final whistle.
That same eye for atmosphere and emotion runs through his fiction, where place matters, people feel real, and love is found in the spaces in between.
Steve loves stories that make you smile, catch you off guard, and leave you a little lighter than when you started.
