Coming Soon: When the Moon Was White by Jeff Probst
We’re delighted to be sharing the upcoming UK Bookstagram tour for When the Moon Was White by Jeff Probst, running from 2nd to 6th February with Love Books Tours.
This imaginative and thought-provoking literary novel takes a unique look at ambition, secrecy, and the desire to leave something behind that will last forever. Across the tour dates, our Bookstagram hosts will be sharing their reviews and creative posts on Instagram.
📖 About the Book
Many stories have been written about the sixties — the decade of the Moon Race — but When the Moon Was White offers a fresh and original perspective.
Samuel Thwaite is searching for somewhere to make his mark. He chooses Goodmews, a laid-back American town famous for its bright moon, and persuades the residents to let him establish the world’s first Moon Centre. With NASA funding the project, Goodmews begins to thrive — but Thwaite’s ambition soon grows darker.
Obsessed with creating something that will last forever, Thwaite enlists a rogue NASA engineer to help him carry out a dangerous plan: using a moon rocket to spread paint over a giant crater so the moon will no longer appear white.
When Banno, the Moon Centre’s guard, uncovers the truth, he faces an impossible choice. Bound by NASA’s oath of secrecy and his own sense of honour, he must decide whether silence is worth the cost.
Whimsical in tone yet serious at its core, When the Moon Was White is a striking exploration of obsession, loyalty, and the price of unchecked ambition.
