In this fun-filled instalment, Rupert finds himself swept up—literally—after mistaking a picnic basket for a cosy resting place. What he doesn’t realise is that this basket is part of a hot air balloon…and before long, he’s drifting high above Loch Ness! Luckily, Wee Nessie is never far away, and she swoops to the rescue in classic Nessie style.
This is a sweet, adventurous read full of gentle humour, familiar characters, and warm Scottish charm.
About the Series

🐾 Rupert
A gentle Scottish Deerhound with a soft heart and a habit of landing in unexpected situations. Loves pancakes and chocolate, and is always up for an adventure.
🐾 Nell
A loyal Border Collie who has retired from farm life and now enjoys peaceful days by Loch Ness—broken up, of course, by Rupert’s constant escapades.
🐉 Wee Nessie
Daughter of the Loch Ness Monster. Proud flyer, enthusiastic adventurer, and rescuer-in-chief when Rupert drifts a bit too far into trouble.
About the Author
Bill Brodie grew up on a small Scottish farm where the inspiration for Rupert and Nell first took shape. Originally written to entertain his nieces, these stories soon found a wider audience of young readers who fell in love with this playful trio.
