Fast, Fierce, and Full of Secrets: A Thriller That Doesn’t Let Go | My Daughter Is Missing by J.D. Kirk #Bookreview #BookBlogger #ScottishBookBlogger

Book Review: My Daughter Is Missing by J.D. Kirk
There’s something deeply unsettling about a character who refuses to call the police when their child vanishes—and that’s exactly where My Daughter Is Missing starts. From the opening chapter, I found myself gripped, not just by the disappearance itself, but by the why behind the mother’s silence.

This isn’t just a thriller about a missing girl. It’s about secrets—dark ones—and what a parent will do to protect their child when the truth could be just as dangerous as the person who’s taken them.

J.D. Kirk’s writing is taut, fast-paced, and full of tension. Each chapter teases just enough to keep you turning pages, and the layers of the mother’s past unfold with just the right amount of suspense. You know something’s coming—you just don’t know when, or how bad it’s going to be.

The plot is cleverly constructed, and while I did predict a couple of reveals, I still enjoyed watching them play out. The emotional pull is strong, particularly as the main character is forced to confront her history and face what it might cost her in the present.

The only reason I’m holding back from five stars is that I wanted just a bit more emotional resolution at the end. But overall, this is a sharp, absorbing psychological thriller that explores guilt, motherhood, and how far someone will go to keep the past buried.

If you enjoy layered domestic suspense with characters who aren’t quite what they seem, this one is absolutely worth your time.
