๐ŸŒŸ Book Review: Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood – A Comforting Hug in Book Form! ๐ŸŒŸ

When the leaves fall, magic rises . . .

With found family, a dash of romance and an uplifting message about self-love, Rewitched is a cosy autumnal fantasy that will leave readers spellbound.

Belladonna Blackthorn hasnโ€™t lost her magical spark, but she hasnโ€™t seen it in a while either. Balancing work at her beloved London bookshop, Lunar Books, with handling her toxic boss and concealing her witchcraft from those around her โ€“ Belle is burnt out. Perfecting the potential of her magic is the last thing on her mind.

But, when her thirtieth birthday brings a summons from her coven and a trial that tests her worthiness as a witch, Belle risks losing her magic for ever. With the month of October to fix things and signs that dark forces may be working against her, Belle will need all the help she can get โ€“ from the women in her life, from an unlikely mentor figure and even from an (infuriating) coven watchman whoโ€™s sworn to protect her . . .

Can Belle reignite her spark before it’s too late?

If youโ€™re in the mood for an enchanting, feel-good read that wraps you up like a warm blanket, then Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood is a must. This book is everything you want from a cosy fantasy โ€“ itโ€™s got a charming heroine, a dash of romance, a strong sense of found family, and some genuinely magical autumn vibes.

The story follows Belladonna Blackthorn, affectionately known as Belle, who is juggling her job at a London bookshop and keeping her witchy nature under wraps. Belle is an incredibly relatable character, feeling drained and a bit lost as she tries to balance her daily struggles with her need for something more. When her thirtieth birthday arrives, sheโ€™s summoned to her coven and given a life-changing challenge: to reignite her magical spark before Octoberโ€™s end or risk losing her powers forever.

From the start, Wood crafts such a vivid sense of autumn in London, making you feel like youโ€™re right there with Belle, wandering through the magical nooks of her bookshop and feeling that tinge of something extra-special in the air. This book is about more than just magic โ€“ itโ€™s about the magic we find in ourselves when weโ€™re supported by people who genuinely care. Wood has done a wonderful job creating Belleโ€™s circle of supportive friends, who act as the family sheโ€™s chosen for herself, each of them providing their own wisdom, humour, and love. Thereโ€™s also a delightful bit of romance with a certain infuriatingly charming coven watchman, which gives Belle just the right amount of spark and tension, keeping you eager for their next interaction!

Whatโ€™s also striking is Woodโ€™s underlying message of self-acceptance. Belleโ€™s journey through her own insecurities and self-doubts is something we can all relate to. Sheโ€™s burnt out, struggling to find joy in her daily life, and feeling disconnected from her true self. Through Belleโ€™s journey, Rewitched explores how finding self-love is sometimes the greatest form of magic we can conjure.

The book leaves you feeling hopeful, uplifted, and yes, a bit enchanted by Belleโ€™s London. Rewitched captures everything I love about a cosy fantasy read. Woodโ€™s storytelling is like a warm hug in itself, and Belleโ€™s personal growth reminds us that sometimes, to find our magic, we need to be willing to ask for help. Itโ€™s the perfect autumnal escape for anyone looking for a little more magic in their lives, and a reminder that even in our hardest times, a bit of self-love and the support of those closest to us can make all the difference. Highly recommend to anyone who needs a magical pick-me-up! ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿโœจ
