My Pick of the Panels: JD Kirk & Rachel Abbott

In the lead-up to the Bloody Scotland festival, I’ll be sharing my picks of the panels that you won’t want to miss. With so many exciting authors and events, it’s hard to choose, but I have to kick things off with one that’s sure to be a festival highlight: JD Kirk and Rachel Abbott, taking place on Friday, 13th September, from 3-4 PM at Albert Halls.

This panel features two incredible authors who have carved out their own paths to success by self-publishing. Their journeys are not only inspiring but also a testament to the power of connecting directly with readers and building a loyal fan base.

JD Kirk is best known for his gripping thrillers featuring DCI Jack Logan. His latest release, Where the Pieces Lie, promises to deliver another pulse-pounding investigation, with Logan hunting a killer who has left body parts scattered across the Highlands. JD Kirk’s ability to combine dark, tense plots with atmospheric Scottish settings has made him a beloved figure in the crime fiction world.

On the other side, we have Rachel Abbott, whose incredible career has spanned 16 novels. Her latest, The Last Time I Saw Him, is another edge-of-your-seat page-turner, packed with suspense and psychological intrigue. Abbott’s storytelling is addictive, keeping readers guessing until the final reveal. Like Kirk, she started by self-publishing and has since become a household name, climbing to the top of bestseller charts with her gripping psychological thrillers.

The panel will be chaired by author Ed James, and Orlando Murrin will also join the discussion. If you’re a fan of heart-pounding thrillers and love hearing from authors about their creative process, this event is an absolute must.

Stay tuned for more panel highlights each day this week as we gear up for the festival!
