Timberdark (Wranglestone Book 2) by Darren Charlton takes readers back into the world of West Wranglestone, where Peter and Cooper hope to find a safe haven for the living and the Returned. However, this book was not as enjoyable as the first instalment in the series, and readers who haven’t read the first book may find it confusing.

Despite their hopes, the two boys soon discover that West Wranglestone is not the utopia they were looking for, and the forces controlling the town are far more powerful than they ever imagined. As Cooper grows closer to others like himself, Peter is forced to confront his fears about the Returned, ultimately confiding in the sheriff’s son, Teddy.

Charlton’s writing is thrilling and thought-provoking, making Timberdark a gripping and intense sequel to the highly acclaimed WRANGLESTONE. Fans of Patrick Ness, Marcus Sedgwick, DREAD NATION, and The Walking Dead will find themselves drawn into the story and invested in Peter and Cooper’s journey as they struggle to set aside their differences and learn to trust each other again.

Overall, while Timberdark may not live up to the high bar set by its predecessor, it is still a worthwhile read for those who enjoyed the first book and are looking to continue exploring this fascinating world.
