“What You Did” by Clare McGowan is a gripping tale of betrayal, assault, and the struggle to choose between trusting loved ones. The story revolves around Ali, her husband Mike, and their best friend Karen, and how one night changes their lives forever.
The plot is well-paced and the characters are developed enough to make readers invested in their story. Ali’s dilemma of choosing between her husband and her best friend adds an intriguing element to the plot. It was interesting to see how her decision affected not just her relationships, but also her past.
The author also sheds light on darker memories that the group shared at university. These flashbacks were written skillfully and added a layer of complexity to the plot. The ending is well-written, leaving the reader satisfied with the resolution.
Overall, “What You Did” is an engaging thriller that explores the intricacies of relationships and trust. Clare McGowan’s writing is fluid, and the plot is well-thought-out. The book is definitely a page-turner and is recommended for anyone who enjoys a good thriller. It gets four stars from me!
