“Saving Myself Through a Book”
It has been a difficult journey but I am so proud of how far I have come. I remember when I first experienced agoraphobia and all the worries and anxieties that came along with it. It was like I was in a deep, dark place and could barely breathe. I hadn’t left the house in such a long time.
Then one day, my mum brought home a book that changed my life. When I first tried to read it, I wasn’t too impressed, but after a few months, I decided to give it another go. I don’t know if it was just what I needed or if it had something special about it, but this time it felt different.
It didn’t have the big-screen dramatics that a lot of other books had. Instead, it was different, unique and special. Reading it allowed me to regain my hope for the future and filled my mind with positive energy and motivation. It reminded me of the importance of life and how it is too precious to just give up on.
Through this book, I slowly gained back my ability to leave my house over time and live life to the fullest again. There’s no exaggeration or pushy sales technique here. It was a genuine journey I took that changed me for the better and saved me from myself.
Although noted it is not magical, it took months to leave the house and only a little at a time. But it was definitely the door to it all.
