Cluedo

Was it Miss Scarlett, with the revolver in the dining room, or Professor Plum, with the lead pipe in the library…?

Starring Michelle Collins as Miss Scarlett and directed by Mark Bell (The Play That Goes WrongCLUEDO is an exciting, comedy thriller based on the hit 1985 film CLUE and the classic board game loved by generations.

Just like the game, this brand new play promises a nostalgic, fun and thrilling evening of entertainment.

When Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mrs Peacock, Reverend Green, Mrs. White and Colonel Mustard arrive at a country house one dark and stormy evening, they are surprised to find they have all received the same intriguing invitation from Lord Boddy. It soon becomes clear that they all have something to hide as the mystery and hysteria grows and the inhabitants and guests of Boddy Manor are killed off one by one, with a variety of familiar weapons, leaving everyone to wonder, who will be next!

This hilarious spoof of a thriller will keep you guessing right up to the finale as both the guests and audience try to work out whodunnit…. with what… and where!!

Cluedo Theatre Review

If you are looking for an entertaining evening then pop along to the King’s Theatre this week in Edinburgh. Cluedo is showing from the 7th – 14th of May.

When I grew up in the ’80s and 90’s a Cluedo board game was a fixture in any home. Brought out on rainy days and a staple of Christmas Day.

So the chance to see an in-person production was such a thriller prospect. With the added bonus of it having the director from The Play Which Went Wrong. Which is one of my all time favourite shows.

From the start of the performance, there is exciting energy vibrating from the stage. You take a breath and it feels like you don’t let it out till the final curtain. The teamwork that brings the performance to life is fascinating. It really is rather like a choreographed dance at times. There were laugh out loud belly laugh moments and then unfortunately at times the comedic scenes didn’t quite cut the mustard (pun intended).

The star of the show that needs to have top billing is Jean-Luke Worrell. He is the glue that brings everything together. The dialogue scene in act 2, alone is awe inspiring. His stage presence is untouchable and you are automatically drawn in by him. He is sensational and I would go to any future shows that he may be in.

Overall a fun, light evening of slapstick comedy. With a couple of opening night glitches that can be easily fixed. I recommend you pop along and try to guess who dunnit.

A fun filled evening with belly laughs and an unforgettable performance from Jean-Luke Worrell.
