She’s a power-hungry battle angel
Coriel is determined to rid the world of demons and prove she has what it takes to be archangel. But when a fierce battle ends in tragedy on her orders, she is banished from the Heavens—and finds herself at the mercy of Hell’s sexiest and most powerful demon knight.

He’s the demon knight who wants her
Rather than take his rightful place on Hell’s throne, Zagan prefers to spend his days in the human realm corrupting souls—and he’ll end the life of any angel who tries to stop him. But rather than slay the beautiful battle angel when he has the chance, he binds her to him with his life-saving kiss, forcing her to obey his every command.

The line is drawn
Coriel has no choice but to submit to her captor, though the curse of his kiss is not what lures her to him. While Zagan takes great pleasure in exerting his dominance over the Heavens’ fiercest warrior, he soon wants her to do more than just his bidding. As the war between angels and demons rages, he wants her by his side … to rule Hell as his queen.

Bound to You by Alyson Caraway

Bound to You is a new paranormal romance series that flips our perception of angels and demons. Coriel is on a mission to slay all demons and ascend to the position of archangel. However, things don’t always go as planned, and Coriel’s decisions in battle result in tragedy with her being banned from the heavens.

Enter our lead male, Zagan. He’s a demon, a knight, and the true ruler of Hell. However, instead of ruling his realm, he’s more interested in the day to day corruption. But the twist of this story is that heaven is not as honorable as we first believe. And demons might have more integrity and compassion than angels.

After Zagan saves Coriel and binds her to him, we witness their growing connection. One that exists even beyond the bind Zagan originally forced onto Coriel. And as history of their battles are revealed, new light is shed on our demons.

The good: I dig the chemistry between Zagan and Coriel. And the more we get to know Zagan, the more he grows on me. Sure, he’s the rightful heir to the throne in Hell, but he’s a good guy. And Coriel transforms as well. Especially after she realizes she may have been on the wrong side of the battle.

The little whammies: For me, sometimes the characters’ voices felt a little juvenile. Although, if you go into the story with the understanding that the leads are young adults, the language feels more authentic. Also, toward the end, the conversations and actions seemed to veer a bit from the characters.

If you’re looking for a light read with elements of a paranormal world, some sexy angel-demon time, with an enemies to lovers trope, this is the book for you. As more books in the series are released, I have the utmost faith the world building will evolve and tighten, and we’ll have continued happily-ever-afters.
