Abby and Ellie are two sisters who grew up with a single mum. Ellie, however, was extremely poorly as a child and their mum had to spend a lot more time looking after her. Abby felt the lack of love and took it deeply personal. Fast forward to present day and we see exactly how Abby and Ellie have coped with life. What were the consequences of not having the mothers love you so desired? Abby is a superb character so fiercely icy and cold. Ellie lives each day as if it is her last and appreciates everything. 

I loved the simplicity of the writing, it’s the kind that is effortless to a reader. It flows so well and you can really immerse yourself in the book. It takes real talent to produce a book like Sisters. It had me glued from chapter one. It is twisty with the plot which I loved as I hate predictability it just kills a book for me. As I was reading I was reminded of Thelma & Louise but a more modern-day version. I feel the movie definitely had a wee influence over the book plot.  

You will love this book if you like fast-paced no-nonsense crime fiction. 

As it happens I was always poorly as a child and this book got me thinking a lot about my own relationship or lack of one with my sister. I might get her it for Christmas and see what she says.

Now, who did I have in my mind’s eye for the characters if it was made into a movie? For Abby perhaps Jenna Coleman. Ellie for me is Lily James and Susanna their mother would be Imelda Staunton. Matteo could only be played by Gilles Marini. 

Jenna Coleman as my Abby.

Lily James is my Ellie.

Imelda Staunton is my Susanna.

Finally Gilles Marini is my handsome Matteo.

Sisters is one hell of a ride, you will be clinging on till the very last page.
