Patricia lives in the midlands of Ireland. She is an avid crime reader so naturally she found herself writing in the crime genre. To date, (July 2018) Patricia has sold over ONE MILLION COPIES in the LOTTIE PARKER series. A life changing experience in 2009, with the death of her 49 year old husband, meant she had to give up her career, and over the following few years, she rekindled her love of art and writing. Initially Patricia wrote and illustrated a children’s book, but her real ambition was to write a novel. And she did!

In January 2016, she joined with Ger Nichol of The Book Bureau Literary Agency. In July 2016, Patricia signed with Bookouture for four DI Lottie Parker crime novels. 

Can you tell us a little bit about your book?

Final Betrayal is the sixth book in the Lottie Parker series.

Lottie is in her mid-forties and is a Detective Inspector in the town of Ragmullin, situated in the midlands of Ireland. She is a very complex character but still very real. She is a widow with three teenage children and all the trouble they bring is matched by the cases she has to investigate.

Final Betrayal centres around the consequences of actions, and how one action can reverberate over the years with devastating effects.

Two young girls give evidence that results in the conviction of a young man who gets a ten year prison sentence. But did they tell the truth? And do they have reason to be worried? He is now back in their town! When two young women are found murdered with silver coins near their bodies, is this the work of someone seeking revenge or someone who has been betrayed?

Who would your book be perfect for?

Anyone who likes multi-layered plots in their crime fiction featuring a strong lead character.

Did you have a favourite character to write?

I love writing Lottie Parker. I first created her while I was writing for therapeutic reasons, following the death of my husband, Aidan. I poured a lot of emotion into her creation and I feel a very strong affinity with her. And with each book I write in the series, I relish the job of making her character grow and evolve. To me Lottie is very real, and I think that helps my readers connect with her.

What inspired you to the write the book?

Final Betrayal is the sixth book in the series and with each book I work at developing Lottie, her friends and family and in particular her relationship with her sergeant, Mark Boyd. The plot usually comes to me once I have started writing and in Final Betrayal I loved bringing back an evil character from an earlier book to torment Lottie and her family.

Can you share with us a photo from 2018 that meant something special to you?

In late 2018, the second book in the series, The Stolen Girls, was nominated for an Irish Book Award, in The Ryan Tubridy Listener’s Choice Award. It was such an honour to have The Stolen Girls shortlisted and so special to see it up in lights on the night.The event was also televised. A night to remember. 

What has been your proudest bookish moment?

To have my first book The Missing Ones published by Bookouture. I had been writing it for five years on and off and was terrified of letting it go. But I did release it eventually and secured an agent, Ger Nicol, with my first submission.

Then, when Bookouture emailed to say they wanted to publish The Missing ones with a contract for four books (initially), I could not believe it. The day The Missing Ones was published was my proudest bookish moment. And there have been so many proud moments since!

What is your favourite read of your whole life and why?

I read avidly. I love books. I can’t sleep at night unless I have first read something. I have many favourites. But one that I read when I was a teenager has never left me. Charles Dickens, Great Expectations. It is dark and menacing, and sad. Full of character and unforgettable characters.

 What are you working on now?

I am currently writing book 7 in the series and it will be published in October 2019
