Another gripping read from Choc Lit’s Search for a Star winner and a return to the beautifully described fictional seaside town of Borteen Bay.

Two children in a police waiting room, two distressed mothers, a memory only half remembered…
When Jenny Simpson returns to the seaside town of Borteen, her childhood home, it’s for a less than happy reason. But it’s also a chance for her to start again.
A new job leads to her working for Carver Rodgers, a man who lives alone in a house that looks like it comes from the pages of a fairy tale – until you see the disaster zone inside …
As Jenny gets to know Carver she begins to unravel the sadness that has led to his chaotic existence. Gradually they realise they have something in common that is impossible to ignore – and it all links back to a meeting at a police station many years before.
Could the truth lie just beneath their feet?

For me, The Truth Lies Buried was one of those WOW reads. It really wasn’t what I had anticipated it to be. In my mind, it was going to be an easily enjoyable chick lit read that I do like to indulge in now and again.  I was very very wrong, The Truth Lied Buried had so much more depth and emotion at its core that I was truly engaged and invested in the core characters Jenny and Carver. For me, it was a cross between women’s and thriller fiction.

When we meet Jenny and Carver they are both consumed by grief and struggling with a sense of belonging. When the two are thrown together it causes both of them to evaluate where they are in life.

Suddenly when dangerous old secrets from the past come to light in the future. Their safety is compromised and all that progress they were making may come tumbling down. Add in a fictional seaside town with a whole host of unique characters and anything can happen.

A beautifully written story with true to life likeable characters.  Morton S. Gray, I love Borteen Bay and would love to go back again and again.
