Hairspray The Smash Hit Musical has arrived at The Edinburgh Playhouse for a week-long run.  I strongly urge you to book your tickets, an uplifting show from start to finish.

A dedicated and powerful cast took an Edinburgh audience on a super adventure this evening. Hairspray is not only a comedy it tackles some hard-hitting issues that are still relevant today in 2018.

Rebecca Mendoza makes her professional debut as Tracy Turnblad and she truly makes the role her own. Brenda Edwards has come a long long way from her stint on X-Factor in 2005. A powerhouse singer with delicate and velvet tones, she oozes confidence and makes a real statement on the stage as Motormouth Maybelle.

The camaraderie between Matt Rixon and Norman Pace is priceless.

With hit after hit performed by a cast that is extremely professional and well rehearsed. The energy and the excitement that pulsed through the cast was infectious and set the tone for the whole evening.

Bravo! A musical that had a usually subdued Edinburgh audience on their feet wanting more.
