About The Book 

Thelonious “Theo” Mitchell is a down on his luck teenager, wandering aimlessly through life with no desire or focus. When tragedy strikes, he is taken in by his aunt and uncle. Thrown into a new school with unfamiliar surroundings, he befriends the class “troublemaker”. After yet another tragedy, will Theo fall victim to life, or use the tragedy as a spark and motivation to embrace all that life has to offer?

Describe yourself using three words?

Caring, creative, funny

What time of day do you like to write?

I have two young children, so I write when I can. Usually, after they are asleep or on my lunch break at work.

What is your favourite book and why?

I love To Kill A Mockingbird. This is one of my favourite books ever. I love the sense of innocence that the book presents and the growth and child-like curiosity from Scout throughout the book.

 

How did you pick the title of your book?

I wanted something that described the book and I kicked around a few other titles. This one just came to me about the middle of the book and it just stuck.

Are the characters in your book based on real people?

The characters are based on a bit of me, some childhood friends, and just fiction. I believe everyone will find a bit of themselves in Theo and gravitate towards his struggle to live and find his purpose in life.

Do you plan your story beforehand or go with the flow?

I start with a general idea of the story and I just let it develop and grow as I write.

Who is your favourite Author?

 Are you working on a new project?

I have the continuation of this book, The Chosen Path, that hopefully will be released the end of March to the middle of April. I’m really excited about this one as I think I’ve grown as a writer and Theo has grown as a character.

 

 

I am originally from Phoenix, Arizona, currently residing in Cuyahiga Falls , Ohio. I have a BS in elementary education from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, where I also played football. I am married and have three children. I currently teach Pre-K children the fine points of reading and writing.

I have always been a writer and have written poems and stories my whole life. I am humbled and flattered at the outpouring support for this book as they take the journey with Theo and connect with the character I’ve created.
