Author bio
Katherine Black was born and raised in Texas but has spent most of her life in England—though her Southern drawl still makes the occasional late-night appearance. After earning an art history degree from the University of Texas (Hook ’em, Horns!), she worked across the UK and Europe in the arts before swapping gallery life for motherhood and, eventually, murder—on the page, that is. She holds an MA in Creative Writing (Crime Fiction) from the University of East Anglia, where her debut novel A Most Unusual Demise took shape. Now the first in The Most Unusual Mysteries series, it was published by Bloodhound Books and followed by A Most Malicious Messenger. The series was longlisted for the CWA’s New Blood Dagger in 2024. Her earlier novel, Lufkin, Texas (currently unpublished), was longlisted for the CWA’s Debut Dagger in 2022. Katherine writes cozy mysteries with a sharp edge and a soft spot for village secrets.
