Book Review: Don’t Look Away by Rachel Abbott

Rachel Abbott has done it again—Don’t Look Away is utterly gripping from start to finish.

From the very first chapter, I was pulled into Nancy’s world and the lingering, aching mystery of her sister Lola’s disappearance. The sense of place is beautifully done—the Cornish setting feels both breathtakingly picturesque and deeply unsettling, as if danger is lurking just beyond the crashing waves.

Nancy is a compelling protagonist, torn between grief, guilt, and a fierce determination to uncover the truth. I loved how Abbott wove the past and present together, each new clue revealing just enough to keep me desperate to turn the page. The tension never lets up—every time I thought I had it figured out, another twist made me question everything.

The atmosphere is thick with suspense, the stakes are high, and the ending… well, let’s just say it was both satisfying and shocking in equal measure.

If you’re looking for a tense, emotionally charged thriller that will keep you reading late into the night, Don’t Look Away is a must. I couldn’t put it down.
