About the Author – Hil G. Gibb
Hil G. Gibb, author of The Golden Fleck Series, is a proud Lancashire lass with a rather dubious claim to fame—she once nearly ran over Stephen Hawking while furiously pedalling to a university lecture she was late for.
Born in Preston, in the heart of Wallace and Gromit country, Hil’s northern roots often shine through in her storytelling (and continue to amuse her husband). Originally a teacher, she spent years entertaining students with impromptu tales and doodling cartoons of her mischievous spaniels—all while dreaming up grand adventures.
The spark for The Golden Fleck Series came during an unexpected season of rest. While recovering from a herniated disc, Hil embarked on daily mental adventures through the woods with her dogs, imagining magical portals hidden among the trees. It was there that Annie was born—a curious young homeless girl whose mysterious past became the emotional core of the series.
When she’s not writing, Hil enjoys yoga, reading, attempting classical guitar, and dancing like no one’s watching. She believes in the magic of stories, the joy of running with her dogs (this time in real life!), and the power of staying curious—always.
