Abandonment, betrayal, heartbreak, and lack of trust.
Sarah Wilkinson has found passion as a painter whose skillful talent was shaped and influenced by many, including two past female artists who came from different cultures and different centuries, yet both defied the odds against women becoming successful artists.

Evolved from the Annie’s Journey series, Sarah was living in a tent painting the wild animals of the Serengeti in East Africa when Annie met her. They quickly became close friends, but what Annie was unaware of is the heartbreaking childhood Sarah experienced before she struggled to find her way into the competitive art world. As a result, it was Annie who would force Sarah to confront her destiny and make a choice that would forever change her life.

Her father, in a letter written just before his death, referred to Sarah as a phoenix that rises from the ashes to new heights. Follow along as Sarah surpasses one pitfall after the other, painstakingly getting closer to finding her sense of purpose.

Can artistic success help Sarah escape the ashes of her childhood to believe in second chances and allow her inner phoenix to soar?

Author bio

Nina Purtee is a world traveller, philosopher, and adventure romance novelist who weaves her global experiences into captivating stories. Growing up in Atlanta, she developed a deep love for exploration thanks to her father, who introduced her to the thrill of travel with unforgettable family adventures.

Her journeys have taken her across the Greek Islands on a 95-foot sailboat, the Eleni, inspiring Don Marco’s vessel, the Porto Banus, in her novels. While on safari in East Africa, she met an artist and a sculptor living in tents, wholly immersed in their craft—an encounter that shaped the characters of Sarah and Sam.

Nina’s writing embraces multicultural characters and star-crossed lovers, exploring how people from vastly different worlds can find common ground, acceptance, and even love. The sudden loss of a colleague deeply affected her, becoming the catalyst for Annie’s emotional journey in Beyond the Sea: Annie’s Journey into the Extraordinary. The adventure continues in Crossing Paths: The Road to Destiny, as Annie’s world expands with new challenges and evolving relationships. Nina’s latest novel, Finding Sarah: A Phoenix to Behold, delves into the compelling life of one of Annie’s closest friends.

Tammy Ruggles of Reader Views describes Purtee as “a natural storyteller, with the ability to transport readers into realms of imagination and possibility.”

When she’s not crafting stories, Nina calls Florida home, surrounded by family and friends. But her passion for travel never fades—she’s always seeking new experiences, new cultures, and new inspiration for her next adventure-filled novel.
