Review:
Don Quixote by the Red Nose Company is a bold attempt to bring a comedic and clownish twist to the classic tale, but unfortunately, it misses the mark. While the performers undoubtedly possess great talent, it feels largely wasted on a production that struggles to find its footing.
The show’s use of nudity felt particularly unnecessary and added little to the story or comedic value. This choice seemed to alienate some audience members, as I noticed several walkouts during the performance—a troubling sign for any production.
Despite these issues, the cast’s energy and commitment to their roles were clear. There were moments of genuine humor and creativity that showcased their potential, but these were too few and far between to save the show.
In the end, Don Quixote is a mixed bag. It’s evident that the performers have the talent to deliver something special, but this production’s over-the-top choices and uneven pacing make it a less-than-satisfying experience.
