Review
Going into reviewing tonightās performance of Life of Pi, I was wondering how it was going to work. Would I be less bamboozled than I was when I read the book? The answer is it works perfectly.

Sonya Venugopal gave a flawless, fragile heartfelt performance from start to finish. I was in awe and I felt overwhelmed at times with the sensory intake but Ms Venugopal made it a safe space to sit, watch and listen.

I feel like the performance should be a class at University or High school. There is so much to learn from the story and so many scenes to dissect and everyoneās takeaway will be different.
It is at points brutal but it is necessary but it definitely not for all the family. I feel twelve plus would be best.
I really enjoyed the set and the puppetry. It is the core of the performance and I havenāt seen anything like it before. There is such a life-like connection between the cast of animals (puppets) and Pi. I canāt imagine the work it would take to rehearse with the puppeteers. As well as acting plus every step has to be so carefully choreographed. It was really something very special to watch.
