Last of the Usurpers by William Seale J.R.

The Usurpers were once a powerful race of fighters with magic flowing through their veins, making them stronger, faster, and far more durable, but at a price.
Last of the Usurpers follows Argent, a man believed to be a myth, a legendary Usurper who was responsible for the death of the Dragons, as he journeys to save his daughter from the hands of her captor. A tale of love and the lengths parents will go to save their children, this edge-of-your-seat read is a thrilling, fantastical commentary on the nature of love, the way it is quick to grow and then deeply rooted.

I am 24 years old, and I was raised in a small family. While growing up I always had a difficult time paying attention as my mind was always off in the clouds, creating another world of fantasy. I always knew I wanted to tell stories, I just didn’t know in which format, funnily enough it turned out to be all of them. When I first sat down to write I was afraid to even try as I suffer from dyslexia, but even so I pushed on. Today I am the proud author of my first book, “Last of the Usurpers”

1. Can you tell us a little about your publishing journey, please?

It was honestly a bit strange. When I had finished writing my book, I was afraid to reach out initially. I was scared to be rejected, despite my overpowering desire for the world to read and see my story. All it took was one phone call and I was on my way, and a few months later my book was in my hands.

2. How do you decide who to dedicate your books to?

My friends, every time. Without them I would not be alive, nor would I have had the faith and confidence I now have in my stories. Every story I will ever release is dedicated to them and the others I love.

3. What was the inspiration behind your latest release?

The inspiration came from a random spur of the moment thought that popped into my head while I was in the car with my friend, Ashby. I began talking aloud, letting the story come from my mouth, little did I know I was actually going to write that story.

4. Do you find it hard to let your characters go when you finish writing the book?

Yes, and no. I love the characters, truly, but when I finish a story I like to think the characters are finally living the life they wanted in peace.

5. What is one of your favourite reads?

Easily the summoner series by Taran Matharu. I read it and instantly latched on the characters, buying and finishing the entire series in one massive sitting.

6. Who is your favorite author?

My favorite author is hands down Christopher Paolini, author of the “Inheritance Cycle.” They way his characters feel about each other and just the overall theme and plot drew me in instantly.

7. Was there a point in your life that a book helped you get through, and which one?

When I was in 10th grade I hated reading due to my dyslexia. It wasn’t until I picked up Eragon that I realized it wasn’t something that was going to hold me back, it even allowed me to push past my fears and write.

8. Is there anyone that you would like to mention and thank for their support of your writing?

James and Glenna, without them I never would have taken the steps I needed to forge my own path. I truly owe them everything.

9. If you had the power to give everyone in the world one book, what would it be and why?

If I could, I would give everyone my first book, “Last of the Usurpers”. Not because of a desire to be the most known, or the most famous, but because I know that a good story can be the difference in life or death. While that may be a bit extreme and sound like a pat on my own back, it isn’t. Sometimes all it takes is giving someone twenty minutes, or even five seconds, to change their life, afterall I am a testament to that.

10. What are you working on now?

Currently, I am working on finishing the second book in the “Last of the Usurpers” series. But, at the same time I am stirring on a few others, for example: The Dragon Shepards, The Boy Born of the Tree, Poseidon Rising, The Crucible, Timeless, and a few others.

11. Lastly, do you have any questions for your readers?

The only question I have is this, if you could do any one thing in this world what would it be, and why aren’t you doing it?
