In Susan Stoderl’s latest book, “Mission 1: All in a Day’s Work,” Sophia and her trusty sidekick Pedro Gonzalez must unravel a mystery at the local zoo.

Stoderl does an excellent job of capturing the thrill of the investigation, and Sophia’s character shines as a smart, resourceful young detective. Kids will love the animal language aspect of the book, and the fast-paced plot keeps them engaged from start to finish.
