FIVE STARS – Líam Rudden’s Silence in Court @TheBrunton @LiamRudden #Theatrereview #SilenceinCourt #Socialexpermenttheatre #Edinburgh #EastLothian

Review by Kelly Lacey

Silence in Court was an exceptional theatre experience that kept me captivated from start to finish. The concept of having the audience members serve as the jury was both unique and intriguing, making the production a fascinating social experiment. As someone who has never been in a court setting, it was both thrilling and educational to be a part of the trial.

The actors were absolutely outstanding, bringing their characters to life in a way that felt entirely genuine. The attention to detail and realism was incredible, making it easy to believe that we were watching a real-life trial unfold. I found myself completely invested in the case and constantly reevaluating my own opinions on the accused’s guilt or innocence.

The venue was also impressive, with stunning views of the Musselburgh Racecourse and a delicious optional soup and sandwich lunch available beforehand. The combination of great food, excellent actors, and a thrilling storyline made for an unforgettable experience.

I would highly recommend Silence in Court to anyone looking for a unique and thought-provoking theatrical production. It is a must-see for anyone who has an interest in legal dramas or social experiments, and it will leave you questioning your own assumptions and beliefs. Overall, a five-star production that I would love to see again.

Lunchtime theatre is back! Guilty or not guilty? You decide! Charles Brand, a minister’s son, is charged with the rape of Jennifer Lyons. As the events leading up to the alleged assault are explored, who will you believe? Inspired by the classic 70s TV series Crown Court. Silence In Court draws on real-life procedures from a number of legal traditions, to create a mock court in which you the audience can join the jury and discuss what has been heard, until a majority decision is reached.

Relax a while with optional soup and sandwich and enjoy the view out over Musselburgh Racecourse, before enjoying our interactive theatre experience. You can join in as much or as little as you like.

Thank you to the Brunton Theatre for my gifted tickets in exchange for an honest review.
