Edinburgh Readers Get Ready!

Last night’s launch of the Edinburgh Women’s Fiction Festival was held in the stunning McLarens on the Corner restaurant in Edinburgh. It was an impressive setting for a festival that promises to be one of the literary highlights of the year.

The event was hosted by the festival committee, who gave an inspiring introduction to the festival. They explained that the festival was created to celebrate writing for, by, and about women. It was also created to connect readers with their favourite authors, something that can often be difficult in the modern world of publishing.

The festival committee were passionate about the festival and its inclusive ethos. They welcomed everyone who loves reading women’s stories, from romance to literary fiction and beyond. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and it set the tone for the rest of the evening.

The festival itself is set to take place on the 6th and 7th of October at the Morningside United Church in Edinburgh. There are several events scheduled, covering a range of topics and genres.

The first event is titled ‘The History of Women’s Fiction’ and features two fantastic writers, Sara Sheridan and Kim Sherwood. They will discuss the evolution of women’s fiction and how it has shaped our literary landscape.

The second event, ‘Historical Romance,’ is also set to be a hit. Catherine Hokin and Karen Swan will delve into the genre and what makes it so popular with readers.

One of the most anticipated events is ‘Feel-Good Fiction.’ Jackie Fraser, Milly Johnson, and Eva Verde will discuss how writing about uplifting topics can bring a sense of joy and hope to readers.

Anya Bergman and Stacey Thomas are taking on a slightly different subject matter with their event titled ‘Witcherature.’ They will discuss the resurgence of witch-related stories in fiction and what makes them so appealing.

Finally, there will be an event focusing on rom-com fiction, titled ‘Love, Laughter, and Happily Ever After.’ Niamh Hargan, Nina Kaye, and Lily Lindon will talk about how they incorporate humour into their writing and the challenges of crafting a good love story.

The highlight of the festival, however, has to be the in-conversation event between Jenny Colgan and Mike Gayle. Two of the most popular writers in the UK, they will discuss their writing process, the ups and downs of being a writer, and what inspires them.

Overall, the festival promises to be a celebration of women’s fiction in all its forms. From historical romance to feel-good fiction, the events are diverse and engaging. It’s an excellent opportunity for readers to connect with their favourite writers and for writers to meet their fans.

I also enjoyed catching up with some of my blogger friends, and it was clear that everyone was buzzing with excitement for the festival. The sense of community was palpable, and it felt like we were all part of something special.

I am already counting down the days until October and can’t wait to attend some of the workshops and panels, connect with my favourite authors, and discover some new writers and books to add to my reading list. If you’re a lover of women’s fiction or just looking for a fun literary event, the Edinburgh Women’s Fiction Festival is definitely one to mark on your calendar!
