The Broken Ones by Sarah A. Denzil

As soon as I heard about ‘The Broken Ones’ audiobook, I knew I had to give it a listen. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Sarah A. Denzil has crafted a story that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The plot revolves around Sophie, a young woman who can’t shake the feeling that someone is always watching her. Alison Larkin’s narration only adds to the suspense, making it impossible to stop listening once you’ve started.

One thing I loved about this book was how real and relatable the characters felt. Sophie, in particular, is a complex and nuanced protagonist who you can’t help but root for. As she struggles to unravel the mystery of who is following her, you feel like you’re right there with her every step of the way.

Denzil does an excellent job of building tension throughout the book, slowly revealing more and more about Sophie’s past and the people in her life who might be responsible for her predicament. But just when you think you’ve figured it all out, there’s another twist that leaves you gasping for air.

I also appreciated the way that Denzil explored some really dark themes without ever feeling exploitative or gratuitous. The book tackles issues like mental illness, abuse, and manipulation in a way that feels grounded and sensitive. It’s not an easy read, but it’s an important one.

Overall, I would highly recommend ‘The Broken Ones’ to anyone looking for a suspenseful and engaging audiobook. Denzil and Larkin make for an incredible pairing, and the story they’ve crafted together is one that will stick with you long after you’ve finished listening. Just make sure you have some free time on your hands, because once you start, you won’t be able to stop.

Her instinct tells her that it’s someone she knows. But who? The man she met internet dating? The nurse caring for her ill mother? Or is her mother faking her illness? The only thing she knows is that she can’t trust anyone.

Sophie must delve into a dark history to reveal her stalker. But there are some stories that should never be told…
