Carrie Hope Fletcher, An Open Book Tour

Review by Kelly Lacey

I was lucky enough to catch Carrie Hope Fletcher’s An Open Book tour at the Festival Theatre Edinburgh and it was an evening I will never forget. Carrie was not only a brilliant performer, but she was also an engaging storyteller and hilarious chat show host.

The show was a perfect blend of her favourite musical theatre hits and personal anecdotes. It was fascinating to hear about Carrie’s journey.

Her powerful renditions of songs like “I Say No” from Heathers and “On My Own” from Les Miserables left the audience completely mesmerised. Her banter with the crowd was effortless and natural, and her hilarious impersonations of fellow West End stars had everyone in stitches.

The support from Irish group Trinity was fantastic, with their unique blend of traditional Irish and modern pop music providing the perfect complement to Carrie’s performance.

Overall, An Open Book was a triumph of theatre and entertainment. Carrie Hope Fletcher is a true triple threat and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next. I would highly recommend anyone who loves musical theatre, storytelling, and good old-fashioned laughter to catch this show when it comes to your town.
