I was over the moon when I heard I was going to be reviewing What Did I Do by Jessica Jarlvi. Jessica’s previous book When I Wake Up was a real reading highlight for me in 2017. I started and finished When I Wake Up in one go.

We meet a whole host of different characters and at first, I found it quite confusing and I kept trying to connect the dots and I got frustrated. So, I gave in and just relaxed into the book and went on the journey. Jessica is an excellent story weaver, giving you just enough information then changing your thoughts in another direction.

We travel from Chicago to Sweden in the book and we flip flop from past to present day. Jessica drip feeding us the key clue jigsaw pieces of the story. It’s extremely fast-paced and what I thought was going to happen didn’t, so I was really pleased that the ending shocked me, and I was surprised.

It was refreshing not to know what would happen and in the end, I really didn’t like any of the characters this time around but sometimes that makes for a better book.

Jessica has a knack for making you feel all snug and comfortable, then she smacks you around the head with a plot twist that leaves you shocked and unsettled.
